In the 18th century, when the castle lost its function of the fortress, Baroque-Classicist mansion was built. The castle is just a few minutes walk from the historical center of Žilina. It is located in the local area Budatín. Visitors can also take a walk in the beautiful castle park.
Nearby is the Church of the Holy Trinity, a sacral building built around 1400, which is since February 2008 the cathedral of the Diocese of Žilina. The Church of Saint Stephen the King (Slovak: Kostol Sv. Štefana krála) is the oldest architectural relic of town Zilina, located just 1 kilometre (0.6 miles) southwest from the center.
S katakombami je spojená aj legenda. „Na Mariánskom námestí žila vedma Agáta, v meste sa jej mnohí báli, lebo veštila a často povedala pravdu. V čase trhov bolo zlé počasie a nikto ju nechcel prichýliť, iba bratia jezuiti. Umiestnili ju práve do tejto podzemnej miestnosti.

It is run by the Žilina Self-Governing Region and has more than 147,000 objects in its collection, which it presents at the castles Strečno and Budatín, the Jánošík expositions in Terchová, the Transport Museum in Rajecké Teplice, the Wedding Palace in Bytča and folk architecture houses in Čičmany.

Railways of Slovak Republic (ZSSK) operates a train from Bratislava hlavná stanica to Zázrivá every 2 hours. Tickets cost $11 - $16 and the journey takes 3 h 5 min. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Bratislava hlavná stanica to Zázrivá via Nitra and Parnica in around 7 h 14 min.
