Andijan (sometimes spelled Andizhan in English) (Uzbek: Andijon / Андижон / ئەندىجان; Persian: اندیجان , Andijân/Andīǰān; Russian: Андижан, Andižan) is a city in Uzbekistan. It is the administrative, economic, and cultural center of Andijan Region.
Andijan museum of regional studies was founded in 1934 on the basis of an agricultural exhibition. For a long time it has been working in adapted buildings, until finally ithas entered the current, specially constructed building of a total area of more than 5.3 thousand square meters

However, Babur Square was not entirely demolished; the statue of Babur was removed and relocated prior to the demolition of the square. The statue now stands at the center of the recently created (and renamed) Babur Square – a pedestrian area located near the major train station in Andijon.
