The trail eventually reaches a sign pointing the way to Cod Rock. This is a short side track with a view worth checking out before continuing along the trail. After walking another kilometer from Cod Rock, the trail reaches a junction with a sign pointing the direction to Admiralty point.

Many people walk their dogs at Buntzen Lake and the dogs enjoy it. Below are some tips you should know before bringing your dog to Buntzen Lake. Dogs are not permitted in the main beach area. The map below shows three areas where your dogs may picnic with you. The trail to the right leads to the dog off-leash area beside Buntzen Creek. Please do not walk your dog through the main beach area.

The actual Diez Vistas trail is 7 km long; however, to make the full loop, most people come back via the east side of Buntzen Lake. The trail length, taking the east side of Buntzen Lake to the end, is roughly 13 km; there is a 430 m ascent to the top and a cumulative elevation gain of about 875 m. The BC Hydro description states that it is a 6 to 8 hour hike. Very fit hikers can do this hike in under 3 hours with minimal rest stops. Elite trail runners can do it in under 1 hour 15 mins.

Bishop sits at an elevation of about 4,100 feet while just a few miles away in either direction peaks tower to 14,000 feet. The closest large cities to Bishop are Reno, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.
Park one car at Buntzen and one car at Sasamat and do the trail between the two, with a side trip to the Punta Del Este Lookout. This lookout is at the top of the first leg of the Diez Vista trail. Take the right fork at the top to get to the Punta Del Este Lookout, which looks across Buntzen Lake to Eagle Mountain.
Transit Access to Swan Falls Viewpoint The Buntzen Lake area is accessible by transit by taking the 182 bus from Coquitlam Centre. Get off at the Anmore Grocery store on Sunnyside road and then walk to Buntzen lake, an additional 2.4km (30 minutes).
Follow the trail up the final 500 m and enjoy the amazing panoramic view. From the summit of Mount Beautiful you can see the Fraser Valley, the Indian Arm, Lake Coquitlam, Mount Seymour, Mount Baker and much more. Mount Beautiful has had a bit of an identity crises over the years and is also sometimes referred to as Eagle Peak or Tangled Summit.
