Saudi Aramco Residential Camp in Dhahran, known by its inhabitants as the Dhahran Camp, is the residential community built by Saudi Aramco for its employees. It is located within the city of Dhahran (Arabic: الظهران) in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province. There are two areas recognized by the inhabitants in the Dhahran camp.
Dhahran Hills, which is mostly residential, is located about 2 miles west of Dhahran main camp, just beyond the community's golf course. Most houses in the hills were constructed in the early 80s. The Dhahran Hills school, for kids aged 5–10, is located in the hills.
The patch of desert on which the city is built is hilly and rocky, and most of the earliest productive oil wells in Saudi Arabia were drilled in the area, such as Dammam Well No. 7: "Prosperity Well", the first commercially viable oil well in Saudi Arabia in the 1930s. This well was still in production 70 years later.
Beaches. Visitors to Half Moon Bay can avoid the dunes and instead head down to the water. Going to the beach is a popular pastime, and there are numerous private and public beaches. These beaches have soft, light-tan sand with no rocks and calm waters. The bay typically has the perfect weather for sailing and motorboating.
