Live music venues have had their fair share of difficulties with the rising rents and the city's relentless construction gobbling up prime riverside sites. Still though, Berlin is particularly generous to the arts, even for German standards, maintaining three world-class opera houses, various philharmonic orchestras and plenty of more experimental performance spaces too.
The Berlin East Side Gallery is located directly between Warschauer Straße and Ostbahnhof in Berlin Friedrichshain. With a length of 1.3 kilometres, the permanent Open Air Gallery is the longest preserved section of the former Berlin Wall along the Spree River.The works of art shown here prove that Berlin has developed into a stronghold for artists after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Volkspark Friedrichshain is a large park on the border of Friedrichshain and Prenzlauer Berg. It is the oldest park in Berlin and also the third largest by land area. This park is used throughout the year for jogging, tennis, and even sledding in the winter.
