Hakodate Bay Cruise 663highland on Wikimedia Commons Exploring the historical bay area of the city is a great way to do both sightseeing and exploration at the same time. From 10:30 in the morning, the Blue Moon Boat will take you on a 40 minutes mini cruise exploring the harbor area of the city. The mini-cruise costs ¥1600 and also includes beverages onboard. The boat leaves at 10:30, 11:30 and every hour from 13:00 until 17:00.
The Hakodate Goryokaku Matsuri. In the area around Goryokaku, the Hakodate Goryokaku Matsuri is held in May every year. The matsuri-parade is held to impart the history of Goryokaku, the battleground of the Hakodate War. During two days of the Hakodate Goryokaku Matsuri, you can watch various events.
At the bottom of Motomachi’s iconic hill you’ll find a gently lapping harbour. You can also see the Hotel New Hakodate which was once the Hakodate branch of Fuji Bank. Up the hill is Hakodate Nishi High School. The hill is named after the Hakodate Hachiman Shrine next to the high school.

Overall I was happy to stay at Hakodate Park Hotel. Hotel is just about 8-10 mins walking distance from Chitose Station (Hakodate Tram). Highly recommend to those for budget concern. I suggest you to purchase the 1 or 2 days Tram+Bus to move around the Hakodate city, it is very beautiful city to visit.

Kitajima Saburo Museum is an amusement museum which shows Kitajima Saburo’s history etc. Since he is one of the most famous enka (Japanese ballad) singers in Japan, I decided to visit the museum. The second floor was the history zone.

So after asking the hotel staff and looking through some pictures on different social media websites, I decided that we must go to Kousetsuen park, or also known as Miharashi.
In 1859, Hakodate, Yokohama and Nagasaki were opened by the Edo Shogunate for trade with foreign countries. With the development of foreign trade, the city was rapidly westernized and there are still a large number of Western-style buildings in the city. One of them is the Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward.
Sakamoto Ryoma was a great man born in Kochi, who was the leader of a movement to overthrow the Tokugawa shogunate. This museum now exists in his homeland to commemorate his legacy and philosophy. The museum holds in it its collection the actual pistol used by Ryoma, the written document stating the alliance between the Satsuma and the Choshu, and letters that Ryoma sent to family members.
South Hokkaido's first prefectural park with breathtaking views of the Tsugaru Strait. The park has a beautiful heath, in which many northern European pink and white flowers bloom beautifully. Initially completed were the "Flower Hills" and "Field Hills", and in 2005 the "Small River Town" and "Town Forest" zones were completed.
