Renkei-ji: Chozuya A typical chozuya (purification fountain) on the grounds of Renkei-ji. Renkei-ji temple was founded by Kawagoe daimyo Daidoji Masashige (1533-1590) in 1546. The temple was built here in honor of his deceased mother, Renkei. It is a Jodo temple with a statue of Doryu Shonin in the Doryu-du.
The Saitama Children’s Zoo in Takasaka, Higashimatsuyama, is fantastic value for money but futhermore it is one of the best days out for children in Saitama prefecture. It is particularly suited to preschoolers, although it really does have something for children (and people) of all ages.
Shiroyama Park is an approximate 15 minute bus ride from Okegawa Station’s West exit. Take a bus for Kawagoe Station 川越駅 and alight at Kawataya shisho Bus Stop 川田谷支所. By car it is 5 minutes from the Okegawa – Kitamoto interchange on the Ken-O Expressway. It takes one hour by car from Tokyo.
