Rouge Park is a regional park that has sections within Markham managed by York Region and TRCA. Bob Hunter Memorial Park is located in Markham and is part of the Rouge system. The park along with sections in Toronto is being transferred to Parks Canada to form the Rouge National Urban Park.
Plaque Text. In 1805-06 Abraham Stouffer (1780-1851), a Pennsylvania Mennonite, acquired 160 ha of land in this area. By 1824 he had built a saw and grist-mill on Duffin's Creek, near which a hamlet developed, and in 1832 a post-office named Stouffville was established. The community grew steadily and in 1852 a village plot was laid out.

Sunchokes growing wild at Lower Reesor Pond in Toronto. How beautiful is a sprawling drift of Sunchokes fading into the distance! That is just what we found when Bob and I visited Lower Reesor Pond in northeast Toronto. This native species of sunflower goes by many different names including Sunchokes, Sunroot or Earth Apple.
