The reserve is home to a number of bird species including the endangered bearded vulture as well as the small ice rat and rhebuck. One of the main attractions in the park is the 60-meter Lepaqoa Waterfall, which freezes during the winter into a tall, glassy ice pillar.
That’s what takes me one July morning to Thaba Bosiu, Lesotho’s national shrine. Braving the winter, I board a taxi from Maseru.
