Three years and three months later, on March 13, 1982, the district opened C.B. Smith Park to the public. When the state legislature dissolved the South Broward Park District in 1988, the park became a regional park in the Broward County Parks and Recreation Division.

Miramar Reservoir is owned, operated and maintained by the City of San Diego. Located in the Scripps Ranch community, the dam and reservoir were completed in 1960 as part of the second San Diego Aqueduct project.
