Barsby Park is an extension of the Millstone Trailway. The park is a short walk up from the popular Maffeo Sutton Park and serves as connector between Bowen and Maffeo Sutton Park. Park visitors enjoy access to the Millstone River and views of a series of cascading pools.
This is a hidden gem of a park tucked away in the Brechin Hill neighbourhood. The park trail consists of a number stairs and follows the meanderings of Northfield Creek. The trail connects from Departure Bay Road down to the beach near the Departure Bay Ferry Terminal.

Pretty much everyone in Nanaimo has heard of Mount Benson (right? right?!), but have you ever heard of Benson Creek Falls Regional Park? Now, I’m not referring to Ammonite Falls (which Bailee did a great post on) but I’m referring to the entrance in the north end of Nanaimo, along Weigles Road.
Bowen Park was donated to the City of Nanaimo in 1918 by the Western Fuel Company of San Francisco with a condition for park purpose only. Official land title registration took place in 1931. The Bowen Administration Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Buttertubs marsh has a winding trail that meanders around the marsh for probably a couple of miles. There a viewing platforms around the marsh and the occasional wildlife. Parking can be a problem at times as it is adjacent to housing.

Witchcraft lake is at the base of Mount Benson in Nanaimo. We popped by there earlier this week to attempt the hike, but the trail was totally rained out so we turned back. We did take lots of pics of the lake and floating bridge though, so here you go. HAPPY HALLOWEEN. ^ The trail had turned into a stream. Boooo.
