Armed Forces Memorial. Town Point Park Norfolk, VA 23510. CATEGORY: Public Art. The Armed Forces Memorial is a 160-foot monument with 20 bronze cast letters scattered across the base of a flagpole. The bronze pieces are actual letters written to loved ones by members of the Armed Forces who never returned from war.

The nine-mile Elizabeth River Trail, which runs from Norfolk State University following the Elizabeth River northward to Terminal Boulevard, began with an abandoned railroad spur being transformed into a walking and bicycle trail.
In 1862 the fort was recaptured by the Union Army and used as a prison. Later it was an ordnance depot for the Navy. In 1923 the fort was occupied by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which still owns Fort Norfolk. The fort is located in the Ghent section of Norfolk at 801 Front Street.

The MacArthur Memorial is a museum and research center dedicated to preserving and presenting the story of the life of General of the Army Douglas MacArthur. The Memorial also pays tribute to the millions of men and women who served with General MacArthur in World War I, World War II, and the Korean War.

The Norfolk Botanical Garden opened in 1938, when the city of Norfolk set aside 75 acres (300,000 m 2) of high, wooded ground plus 75 acres (300,000 m 2) of reservoir for a city garden. In 1938, under a Works Progress Administration (WPA) grant, 200 African-American women and 20 men cleared the site.
The Willoughby-Baylor House is a two-story brick townhouse built in 1794 by Captain William Willoughby, a descendent of one of Norfolk's founding families. United States Lightship 101, known as Portsmouth, was first stationed at Cape Charles, Virginia. Today she is at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum in Portsmouth, Virginia. Portsmouth never had a lightship station, however when the vessel was dry docked there as a museum, she took on the pseudo-name, Portsmouth.
