Ras al-Khaimah (Arabic: رأس الخيمة ; IPA: [raʔs alˈxajma]) is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates (UAE).Its name could be taken to mean "headland of the small huts", which can be attributed to the indigenous buildings that existed along the coast.
Al Jazirah Al Hamra is the last authentic and traditional town still standing in the United Arab Emirates. Once a small island, its inhabitants subsisted on maritime and pearl trading before they abandoned their houses in the middle of the 20th century, when the rush to modernized started.

In the 14th century, Al Jazirat Al Hamra was built by three local tribes, including the ruling Za’ab tribe. The piece of land was once a tidal island, and the name Al Jazirat Al Hamra translates literally from Arabic to mean “red island”.

The Lowdown Al Marjan Island is actually a series of four man-made islands extending 4.5km into the turquoise waters of Ras Al Khaimah, the UAE’s northernmost emirate, and so named because the complex resembles coral (marjan in Arabic) from above.
Like all other traditional houses in Ras Al Khaimah Old Town the 'Late Fort' was originally constructed from coral stone, a fossil building material originating from the sea. Although being fairly light-weight it possesses excellent insulation qualities, keeping buildings cool in summer and warm in winter.

Aside from our race track hire kart activity, RAK TRACK is also the organiser of the IAME X30 Challenge racing series in the UAE.
The road curves right till the Ras Al Khaimah Women’s College is reached. Locating RAK Women’s College while coming from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. Turn right at the Clock Roundabout. Drive past the RAK Hotel and Police Officers Club (on the left) and turn right at the next roundabout.
