Richardson Grove State Park is built around the nucleus of 120 acres of original redwood forest saved by the state in 1922. The Grove Nature Trail, accessible in several points from the park day use area, takes you through these old-growth redwoods on a flat and easy nature trail.
In October 2009, the City of Richardson opened the doors to a new 25,000 square foot facility situated at the southwest corner of Huffhines Park. This facility has proven to be a family-friendly neighborhood-enhancing place for lifelong learning, movement and fun.
The spring is located within a 2 acre park, called McKamy Spring Park, in south-east Richardson. Native people last known to have camped at the spring were of a Caddoan-speaking tribe. The Bowser family once owned the property, and then T. F. McKamy (1925-1927).
The 178-foot-tall tower was built in 1985 to serve Legacy business park. A demolition team will bring down the tower with a process known as tipping, similar to felling a large tree. Crews from Iseler Demolition of Romeo, Mich., will use torches to cut the metal at the base of the tower.
Prairie Creek is a small neighborhood park, across the street from an elementary school. It does have a few short trails, some good picture taking opportunities as well as a pretty secluded little area with big stones to lounge about, climb on, jump off of as you please.
Spring Creek Nature Area Trail is a 2.3 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Richardson, Texas that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The nature trail at Timbers Nature Preserve is closed until further notice due to damage from the recent rains.
