Albany is located on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay, bordering the city of Berkeley to the south and east, and the Contra Costa County cities of El Cerrito and Richmond to the north. Albany's northern and southern borders are defined by two creeks, Codornices Creek on the south and Cerrito Creek on the north.
Albany Bulb is such an oddity but I think it's a great place to take the dog for a hike since there are so many trails and viewpoints. If you get there early enough in the day there's a path you can take right out to the edge of the water. Be aware that the tide rises later in the evening and this path slowly washes away.

What I can say is that the view at Inspiration Point is well worth the hike!! It's an amazing panoramic view of Santa Barbara from downtown, to the ocean, mountains, and the horizon. This is an intermediate level hike, some uphill and loose rocks but generally doable if you are of average fitness.

Park yourself in a park. Keller Beach is one of my favorite places to go on a walk after work. It's is located in the Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline Park. It's a beautiful place to come watch the sun go down while being able to view all three bridges on a clear day.
