The First Bride's Grave monument was built in 1938 by the Woodbury County Pioneer Club near the grave of Rosalie Menard Leonais. The Pioneers Club called her the "first bride" because she was believed to be the first bride of a non-Native American in the area that would become Sioux City.

The answer is Riverside Park. This part of the city was a major attraction for the region. From the first amusement park (complete with a roller coaster), to country clubs, picnic grounds, baseball fields, racing tracks, and fairgrounds, Riverside had it all. The main attraction to the area was the Sioux River.

From this vantage we noticed some camping trailers at a beach on the Nebraska side, almost opposite the tri-point. To reach the camp, cross the bridge into South Sioux City, NE and take 9th Street W. Turn right on Dixon Path and follow this to the end at an auto salvage yard.

Thomas Jefferson Stone acquired the Talbot farm in 1895. Stone's son, Edgar, began developing the area into a park in 1905. Sioux City acquired the land from the Stone family in 1912 and continued to develop roads, picnic areas, and a zoo. In 1935, the city sold the property to the state of Iowa.

More info 80 feet to the west of the granite witness marker is the unmarked true tri-point, which originally was covered by the Bois de Sioux River until engineers changed the channel.
