Ainsdale Beach is now recognised as one of the premier beaches in the UK for extreme kite activities, with zones set aside for kite buggy and landboard use and kitesurfing taking place on the sea. It has been awarded International Blue Flag on a number of occassions.
The Ainsdale Discovery Centre, situated adjacent to the beach and Ainsdale & Birkdale Sandhills Local Nature Reserve, provides local information, a classroom facility, venue for events and free cycle loan. You are welcome to pop in for leaflets and information during normal office hours, Monday to Friday.

Hesketh is the oldest golf club in Southport, established in 1885. The course is predominantly links in nature and Championship golf has been played at Hesketh from the early days. In addition to being a previous qualifying venue when The Open was played at nearby Royal Birkdale, Hesketh has hosted many other professional and amateur championships.

In 1989 the windmill was restored by Fylde Borough Council and opened to the public. Lytham Windmill is run in partnership with Fylde Borough Council and Lytham Heritage Group. The Windmill is situated on Lytham Green and is open to the public during the season and entry is free of charge.
