Altamont Raceway Park was a motorsports race track located in Tracy, California. It first opened on July 22, 1966, and has variously operated under the names Altamont Speedway, Altamont Raceway, Altamont Motorsports Park, Altamont Raceway Park and Arena, and Bernal Memorial Raceway.
Lovely park in the middle of a suburban neighbourhood. There's a play area and picnic tables so it looks like a nice place to go to with kids. The day I went here was rather hot, so there wasn't really anyone around, which also gave it a nice, peaceful quality that day for a nice lunch.
The Route 1 Extension, built in the late 1920s, was considered a bypass of the Lincoln Highway, but the old road has continued to be known as the Lincoln Highway, except possibly between Communipaw Avenue and Tonnelle Circle in Jersey City, where the name may have moved to the new road (now TRUCK US 1–9).
Tracy Historical Museum We preserve and share the history of Tracy and the surrounding area, known as the Tulare Township. We invite you to visit us and experience some of the people, places, and events that are part of our rich history and that of the northern San Joaquin Valley region of California.
This park is dedicated to our nations Veterans. At the opening ceremony a few years ago, when the ceremony concluded, the city arranged for several F16's from Vandenberg AFB to do a fly over of the park. It was a nice and fitting touch to end the day and open this beautiful park.
