Riverside Park. The Riverside Parks, parcels of which were acquired in 1886, 1887, 1897, 1899 and 1917, form the nucleus of the Wichita Park system. There are three separate areas (Central, North, and South) located along the Little Arkansas River near the heart of the city.
Chisholm Creek Park South. This semi-regional park features a 1.6-mile nature trail along Chisholm Creek which includes a wetlands area. The park area south of the K-96 bypass has been designated a Wichita Wild Habitat area.
In 2011 the park was renamed after the late Dr. Glen Dey, a former Park Board member and an active supporter of development of the park. Part of the K-96 bicycle path runs through the park. The north playground and basketball court have been recently renovated, and the south playground will be renovated in late 2017.
This park, parcels of which were acquired in 1962 and 1967, features irregular topography and serves a large area in the northeast section of the city. The recreation center is designed in an architectural style which is compatible with the neighborhood.

This park was acquired in 1925 and contains a community facility that accommodates up to 60 people. In 2015 the basketball court was upgraded. In 2016 the double tennis court was removed and replaced with one tennis court and one futsal court.
The park is named in memory of one of Wichita's early pioneers, Finlay Ross, who played an important role in the history of the City. He served as Mayor of the City of Wichita for three 1-year terms at the turn of the century and was instrumental in obtaining land and river frontage for the Riverside Parks and the park boulevard system.

The Troll. Wichita, Kansas. The Troll first appeared in May 2007, chained to some pipes beneath a large sidewalk grate near the Arkansas River. He was created by local sculptor Constance Ernatt, stands seven feet tall, and weighs 200 pounds -- although it's difficult to appreciate his size in his underground prison.
