Although closely related to domesticated dogs, wolves do not show the same tractability as dogs in living alongside humans, and generally, much more work is required in order to obtain the same amount of reliability.

Wolf is a symbol of guardianship, ritual, loyalty, and spirit. Wolf has the ability to make quick and firm emotional attachments, and often need to trust their own instincts. Thus they teach us to do the same, to trust our hearts and minds, and have control over our own lives.

Keep in mind that a wolf's real personality is often hidden under the character of his or her social position. Intelligent, non-aggressive, and friendly with the ability to make strong emotional attachments are among those traits we can generalize about the magnificent wolf.

It is illegal to own a pure wolf in the United States… they are classified as an endangered and regulated species! While it is legal to own a 98% wolf-dog federally, many states, counties and cities are outlawing all wolves and wolf-dogs. Any wolf or wolf-dog found within these areas is immediately killed.
