Louis Braille (January 4, 1809 – January 6, 1852) was the inventor of the braille writing system, the world-wide system used by blind and visually impaired people for reading and writing.
Louis Braille was born on January 4, 1809, in the small village of Coupvray, near Paris, France into the family of Simon-Renй and Monique Braille.
The significance of the braille system was not identified until 1868, sixteen years after Louis Braille died.
