The panther can live in a variety of habitats like prairies, swamps, and forests. Panthers must live in a place that has a water source and large prey such as deer and wild boar to feed on. It also requires an area with good cover, such as dens or palmetto thickets.
Unlike lions, tigers, leopards and jaguars that produce a roar with the vibration of flexible cartilage at the base of their tongue, panthers are usually quiet creatures. When panthers do make sounds they will usually chirp, peep, whistle, purr, moan, scream, growl or hiss.
