The fact that I am from Kentucky has definitely had a large impact on my life, affected my worldview and even changed my health, but I can't say I'm “proud” of an accident of my birth or of the flag which represents it. So, no I don't feel patriotism toward it. read more

I do not feel patriotic towards my state flag at all. I live in a Republican run state that is highly influenced by the Mormon church. The church has a tremendous power over the state government. They teach abstinence in schools rather than sex education, you cannot buy wine or liquor in grocery stores and it just goes on. read more

It tends to make me roll my eyes a bit. Whenever I talk to someone who is very patriotic I feel as if the patriotism is trying to make me feel bad for not subscribing. I don't see any reason to value my country just because I was born here. I value individuals in my country who provide me with healthcare etc, but not the country as a whole. read more
