At high school level we aren't taught about American slavery (Atleast in my country). But i think anyone who majors in history in the university would surely come across some courses involving it. read more

Systemic racism is another part of the problem. Education in the U.S doesn't value African American history, and considers very little of it important, minus slavery and civil rights. You can take African American history classes in college though. But a greater consideration is that African American people are a small percentage of American people. read more

Even the curriculum that taught African history spoke more about colonialism and our other African stories, and barely touched on slavery. However, because we have easy access to American media via TV, Netflix etc, we know about it. read more
