Basically it is a Yes and No answer. Alu bikes are generally stiff and transmit a lot of the road imperfections directly to the rider. Alu is less forgiving than steel and titanium. Alu is lighter than steel (and stiff which is good if you race). read more
Aluminum road bikes are relatively harder than their carbon and are slightly uncomfortable. Since aluminum transfers vibrations directly to riders, carbon road bikes can filter vibrations so that they can dampen vibrations and make them slightly more comfortable. There is no doubt that Carbon Bike is the first of choice. read more
People generally refer to steel as a “sweet” ride. It’s hard to explain why, but the term resonates for me. However, my three road bikes are (coincidentally) one aluminum (with a few carbon fiber bits), one steel, and one carbon fiber. read more
Trust me, it happened, about 3 hours ago! And no ugo, they weren't talking about the differences between the boardman bikes. They were genuinely saying that an aluminium framed bike was more comfortable than carbon. read more

I ride a carbon fiber bike and a steel bike. The carbon fiber bike is lighter and a tad more responsive, the steel bike is a little livelier and springy. Both bikes are very comfortable which is something I can't say for my last bike which was aluminum with carbon fork and stays. read more
