Absolutely electric basses are common! They're easier to take around and store and more people have them. In my experience, in live performances they're also easier to deal with when amplification comes into play. read more

It has to be the amp. I have a Jazz and a BTB and the BTB runs circles around the jazz in terms of variety of tones. I like the sound of a Jazz bass, but the BTB electronics are way more versatile. Follow the others advice and boost the mids. I would look at the amp for sure though. Unless your battery is toast it is likely not the BTB. read more
