Lemurs live in trees which is why they are called arboreal. There are some large species of Lemurs though that also spend time on the ground. Madagascar is over 5,000 km away from India, and therefore, it is hard to believe that an animal like lemur that is unique to this one island could have been, many moons ago, living in the Kashmir region of India. read more
Best Answer: no, lemurs are found only in Madagascar. There are other prosimians (primitive primates) in Asia though, including lorises which are found in India. They are fairly small and slow-moving with very large eyes and only come out at night. read more
