Mealworms are safe for adult bearded dragons, but not for babies. Very young bearded dragons have a digest system that runs perilously close to their spinal cord. If they eat insects with strong chitin, or that are too large, the insect chitin can press against and damage the spinal cord as it moves through their digestive tract. read more
