Being that it’s long past the artist’s “Life plus 70 years” time that a copyright would be in force in the US, the paintings are in the public domain, no copyright. read more

Only new elements would be protected because copyright would come in to protect. If there are subtle differences in the photo and the painting, the photo will be copyright protected. But, only the"new" elements are technically going to be protected. Basically, it will be up to the museum whether to even allow people to take photographs. read more
