There are lots of students whose dream school is UC Berkeley - both among California residents and students from all over. The school that receives the most applications in the U.S. is UCLA. I’m sure there are some students that wanted Stanford, but didn’t get accepted. However, categorizing UC Berkeley students as HYMPMS- rejects is absurd. read more

Most Berkeley students didn’t apply to Stanford, and those rejected from Stanford often enrolled in an Ivy or another private school, not Berkeley. Berkeley has become very selective, especially in engineering where the admission rate is less than 8% (or about 4% to 5% for out-of state applicants), which is comparable to Stanford. read more
