Tournaments/LAN Events determined their own rules, most big competitions in the top tier scene are sponsored and have their own kit, this makes for a level playing field of all other obvious benefits, otherwise is stated BYOC (Bring your own computer) for lower tier events such as Multiply and Dreamhack and the like. read more

As a tournament organizer myself (mostly for Dota 2), players are indeed allowed to use their own set up with the o my exception being headsets. They would have to use our noise cancelling headsets while putting theirs around their neck if they need to promote their sponsors. read more
