I'd say it's a wash. The breeds are similar enough in size, coat, intelligence and training requirements that it really comes down to the individual dog. Both breeds are large, so you'll have similar needs for space and similar doses for medications. read more

Dobes originated as personal protection animals and Rottweilers are a versatile farm animal. They'll both protect their families, but Dobermans are more attached than Rottweilers, but Rotti's are definitely family dogs. read more
Rottweilers I feel are slightly easier than Dobermans in some ways, but both breeds certainly provide their own set of training challenges and neither breed is for somebody who is not willing to put a lot of time, energy and effort into their dog. read more
