Not great literature, but highly entertaining. To be honest, they are of varying quality and many critics believe the earlier tales are the best. The four novels are probably the best place to start, beginning with the “pilot” story, “A Study in Scarlet”. read more

I only started reading the Sherlock Holmes literature a few years ago after watching and becoming obsessed with the BBC show “Sherlock” (I know, sigh). Within a few of the short stories I read (I didn’t start with A Study in Scarlet) I became obsessed with those more than the show, and honestly, the show became very weak in comparison. read more
