The Congaree Swamp National monument is just outside of Columbia-- and there are alligators. I grew up near there, off Bluff Road and hunters would bring live young gators out of the swamp to show them off. The same Congaree river feeds into the Broad River- I think the gators like the swap better than the open river. But I am sure they are there. read more
