The trouble is there are very few songs that REQUIRE you to be a bass, a bass/baritone can often sing them. Caiaphas from JCSS is an exception though. I don’t know any measly baritones that can sing that convincingly and regularly with diction and projection. read more

Yes, there are plenty of BARITONE roles in musical theatre. However, there is only one true BASS role which is Jud from Oklahoma. There is somewhat a prejudice against basses in the genre, but for good reason. One, the bass voice simply does not carry very well in musical theatre. read more
