It seems very unlikely. English is Indo-European. Sumerian is a language isolate. They were not near each other and are not related. And the time-spans are too great as well. read more

Then the word could be borrowed into Enlgish. An example of borrowing from Arabic via Spanish is the word “adobe”. But adobe itself probably moved into Arabic from Coptic and older Egyptian languages before that. I don’t know of any Spanish words from Akkadian or Sumerian that moved into English. read more
