We will be in Charlotte in June. I notice that there are many lakes in the area. We would like to do something fun, swimming, fishing, hiking, renting boats-canoes or kayaks. What has anyone done at any of the lakes and what area is your favorite? Any info would be appreciated. We have never been to NC. read more
The 3 major lakes already mentioned (Lakes Norman, Wylie and Mountain Island) are all man-made and actually are part of the Catawba River. Dammed by Duke Power for power generation they also are the source of the region's municiple water supply. read more
