Are there any North American zoos with platypus on display?

Platypuses are very difficult to breed in captivity. A couple Australian zoos have done it once or twice, but the captive population remains very small. So far the only place to see a platypus is in an Australian zoo. There used to be platypuses at the Bronx Zoo, which had been bred in captivity by David Flaey. read more

Unless the survival of the platypus was ever dependent on input from overseas zoos (extremely doubtful), I don't really see the need for them to be sent abroad so that other zoos can just take away one of the few lures Australian zoos have for international visitors. read more
