Are there any religions that don't celebrate birthdays?

Islam prohibit the celebration of birthdays. As the second hand of the clock ticks, we as humans, move closer to our dying day (which we have no idea when it would be); we are moving closer to the Day of Accountability; the day when all your good and bad deeds would be 'checked' and judgement would be passed. read more

They don't celebrate birthdays because bad things happen on the few birthdays mentioned in the Bible. Like Herod's birthday (which ended badly for John the Baptist). Actually, the religion—or any other—has no right to ban birthdays as they are not forbidden anywhere in the Bible. read more

Given that, they don't really celebrate their birthdays either. This seems alien to us, but when one thinks about it, there isn't really that much to celebrate on a birthday. The reasons for celebrating I can think of are all pretty morbid. read more
