Libraries do not ban books. That a library can afford to buy only a small fraction of the books published each year means that librarians must choose which ones to buy. That we buy one and not another is by no means banning a book. My libray accessioned Eragon. No one ever objected to it. I enjoyed it. I have my own copy. read more
Since there are a large number of banned books, some publishers have specialized in them. The best-known examples are the Parisian Obelisk Press, which published Henry Miller's sexually frank novel Tropic of Cancer, and Olympia Press, which published William Burroughs's Naked Lunch. read more
