If those places on the "other side of the hill" (Orinda, Lafayette, Walnut Creek) or south (San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Hayward) or to the more-distant north (Albany, Richmond, El Cerrito) are actually "suburbs", I think the search for "cool" will come up short in those places. read more
