Are there enough female protagonists in video games now?

This isn't even close to the minimum predicted females consumers (20%) so clearly women are underrepresented. This post has basically been a stream of consciousness so I've changed my mind from the beginning, there is not enough female protagonists in the gaming industry. read more

In my opinion there simply not enough AAA games bother to tell a reasonably well written story, hence we don't have enough protagonists, male or female. The best selling AAA games are FPS and Sports games, both heavily emphasis on multiplayer segment and stories matter little or don't even exist. read more

Both are phenomenal games, and both have female protagonists. They both also have a lot a shooting in the game, but the point of the game isn't shooting. The Metroid games are adventure games in which the main focus is progressing, solving puzzles, and beating bosses (by finding their weaknesses or whatever). read more
