Yes, Eastern Grey Kangaroos (commonly called Forester Kangaroos) in the northern and eastern parts of the state (most guidebooks tend to underestimate their range). They're reasonably common in any forested areas. read more
These kangaroos prefer dry, open forest and so are not found in the highlands, the west coast or the south west wilderness, where alpine or temperate rainforest areas predominate. There wallabies tend to be the dominant macropod species. read more
However, in Tasmania during the 1950s and 60s, the population of Forester kangaroos was reduced to 15% of its previous level. The Forester kangaroo is restricted to northeastern Tasmania and small areas in central Tasmania.
