No. That part of New Mexico and Texas are subject strong winds that can pop up any time of the year, and there are few places to escape them. The campground closest to Carlsbad Caverns is nestled snug in a valley that seems to also act as a wind tunnel. read more
We will be car camping (using tents) , and I see there are some interesting looking commercial camping places, including one at White's City and one at Carlsbad with swimming, game room, etc. Elsewhere we will be camping in state/national parks so this should be a nice change of pace. read more
