Subspecies distributions are hotly debated in wolves as we don’t have good definitions for the subspecies on morphological or genetic grounds. However, Arctic wolves don’t even make it all the way through Canada, let alone over to Russia and China. read more

The only thing I can think of that sets them apart from other wolves is their surroundings. Animals’ pelt colors often reflect where they live, and as colder-climate animals tend to have lighter coats to blend in, I see the artic wolf using this to their advantage (as most are white a.k.a snow colored).
