In evergreen or coniferous forests though the plant leaves drop away, not all leaves are dropped at the same time. In a deciduous forest the trees are mainly those that lose their leaves each year in winter (oak, hickory, sycamore, elm, etc.). There can be some of each types of trees in either forest, but the balance is what determines what type of forest it is. read more
