A bear can run 35mph, and a human can run about 20mph, so you do not stand a chance on the ground. And a black bear can go up a tree faster than you can go up a flight of stairs, so there’s no way to “get away from them” in the wilderness. read more

You can't outrun a bear so don't even try. Despite rumours to the contrary, black and grizzly bears can outrun a human on ANY terrain, uphill or down. People will tell you that you should run downhill when chased by a grizzly. read more
