Point 1: Theoretically, the will of the people can be represented by an absolute monarch. If that's what the people want, that's what they get. Look at Liechtenstein (not a member of the EU, but in the EFTA and Schengen area). It's monarch has more power than any other European monarch. read more

I know some countries like Belgium are still monarchi es but I mean full monarchy that has control over the government not just some monarchy that holds no power over political rule in a country. read more

Some monarchs in european states where chosen from new indipendent states in mid 19th century and constitutional monarchy works just fine. The problem is that isn’t the 19th century anymore, and some states, France and Italy in primis, are strong republican states and there is no way that could allow it. read more
