Physically, the Tiger is more than capable of surviving in africa. In size, speed and weight, it is equal to a lion. Where the problems will come from are competition. Tigers are not social cats. They lead solitary lives except when mating. However the Lions are social. The lions live in prides and are hence a formidable force. read more

Over all my opinion is, they shouldn't have that much of a problem in the plains of Africa. So YES, they can survive in Africa.
