It can be done. before i kept spares in the house if a string would break while turning up I would take the old one and replace it till i have a chance to get a new one. Also one time i had just put new strings on a Peavey strat then wanted to trade it towards my CV. i was able to take off those new strings and put them on the CV no problem. read more
